The Three Towns. . .

Llandrindod, Builth and Rhayader are the three towns that make up our little slice of Mid-Wales, we work together under a tri-town initiative introduced by Powys County Council in 2018. This means our little towns have joined forces to boost our local socio-economic prosperity for all 19,500 residents of the area.

Despite being a relatively sleepy part of the world there is a lot going on! You need to know where to look, thats what we plan on helping you with here.

Llandrindod Wells. . .

In Llandrindod we are lucky to have plenty of attractions from outside activities on our beautiful lake, too late night events at the Pavilion.

Heres a small breakdown of what to expect from your visit to our lovely little town. Every August we hold the Victorian Festival, while events in recent years have been dialled back you can still expect to see people in period dress partaking in tea-dances, fine dinners, and murder mystery evenings with events being held within the Albert hall, a victorian theatre and the Pavilion a victorian dance hall.

Aside from connecting to our victorian heritage every June we host the Welsh 2 Day Enduro, the UK's largest time-card motorcycle challenge where roughly 500 competitors tackle an off-road 300-mile course, should motor-cross not be your sport of choice The Boathouse on the lake offer paddle-boarding, canoeing and kayaking. you can also enjoy indoor or outdoor bowling set in the beautiful Rock Park.

If you're more of a cultural visitor, we have three wonderful museums the largest of which is the National Cycle Museum where you soak in cycling history, the museum showcases cycles from various eras as-well as some curiosity pieces. Then we have the Radnorshire Museum which houses relics from our areas past, bronze aged artefacts, Roman pottery recovered from our Roman Fort, and victorian memorabilia. Finally the smallest of the museums is the wonderful restored signal box at the train station, offering a glimpse into the railways past.

For a more simple relaxed visit, you can immerse yourself within nature with trails, hiking routes and cycle-paths criss-crossing our local area, there a plenty of information boards through out the town that can point you in the correct direction.

Builth Wells. . .

Builth Wells is about a 15 minute drive along the A483 from Llandrindod,  home to plenty of boutique shops, charming cafes and the Royal Welsh Show-ground as well as our local in-dependant cinema The Wyeside. Builth is perfect for a day trip or an evening out with taxis and busses offering services between our towns.

The Royal Welsh Show is the most famous event within our area drawing in visitors from far and wide, while it is an agricultural show at heart theres a multitude of stalls and vendors as-well as a large food hall where you can sample and purchase the best local produce we have to offer.

Aside from the agricultural show, The Show-ground also hosts a Winter Fair, providing local children a chance to meet Santa, multiple antique fairs, and dog shows.

Just like Llandrindod, Builth is surrounded by beautiful countryside providing plenty of stunning walks and trails along the Wye Valley.

Rhayader. . .

If Llandrindod is the event town, Builth the shopping town then Rhayader is absolutely the adventure town, with the near-by Elan Valley there are beautiful views and vistas where ever you look.

Some of the highlights here include, Tuesday and Sunday walks running June - October these guided walks are open to the public free of charge, The Mid-Wales Heritage Hunt starts in Rhayader (but takes you through all of the towns), Pump Track Wales offers the UK's largest split-style pump track open year round and free to the public and a Red Kite feeding centre where you can watch hundreds of the once endangered now protected species soaring above.

The aforementioned Elan Valley is the jewel in the crown of our area, by day theres bike tours and hiking routes by night The Elan Valley resides in a 'dark skies zone' where you get a perfect view of the stars. Consisting of six dams started by the victorians in the late 1800's to supply Birmingham with drinking water, the first of them opened by Edward VII and the newest of the dams by the late Queen in the 50's. The visitors centre provides bike hire, a cafe and plenty of resources on the history of the valley, they even occasionally open one of the damns to the public for a small charitable fee. The majority of the dams have stood for over 100 years triumphantly holding back the waters from the Elan and Claerwen rivers, a marvel of civil engineering.

In Summary. . .

Each town in our local area is worth a visit in its own right however, we hope you choose to stay with us in Llandrindod. We whole heartedly believe our town, our charming pub acts as a brilliant launching pad to explore this beautiful part of the world.
